'One Punch Man' season 2 release date: Saitama comes face-to-face with new villain as follow-up season to be released by yearend?

Will \"One Punch Man\" season 2 see a 2016 premiere or would fans have to wait until 2017? | One Punch Man Official Website

The season 1 finale of "One Punch Man" aired in December 2015, and since then, fans have been fervently hoping that season 2 would be released soon lest they become even more restless.

Back in April, the official Twitter account of "One Punch Man" tweeted that season 2 will be released before 2016 ends.

Fans are holding the creators to that promise. Nevertheless, there doesn't seem to be any indication from Madhouse as far as arc or plot is concerned. This lack of information has prompted some fans of the show to surmise that season 2 would most likely premiere by 2017.

At the same time, it has puzzled fans why, despite the considerable success the animated series has gained, it seems it continues to elude the limelight. Are the creators of the series pressured by the demand of the fans? That's highly unlikely since almost six months have passed since season 1 ended, and fans feel a second season is due.

A slew of rumors have been spawned regarding the airdate, plot, and storyline for "One Punch Man" season 2, but only a couple seemed sure.

Movie News Guide reported that the story arc for "One Punch Man" season 2 could have Lord Boros, whom Saitama has defeated in season 1, coming back from the dead owing to his self-healing and regenerative abilities. If that happens indeed, then Saitama could be in for some tough times, as Lord Boros is expected to be stronger than he was when he was first defeated.

Moreover, Saitama could be getting more than he bargained for come season 2, as another possible opponent is expected to join the fray. Apparently, the character, whose name is Garou, a former student of Fang-an, would be the strongest that Saitama would ever face.

Fans are hoping "One Punch Man" season 2 gets aired soon before the waiting game takes its toll on them.
