'One Punch Man' news: Anime bags 'Best Manga Series' award, season 2 storyline to go the opposite way?

Currently causing confusion among fans are contradicting reports about the fate of "One Punch Man" Season 2.
In a report by Sportsrageous, the second season of "One Punch Man" will veer away from its manga counterpart. Marking this change is the fight which will happen between main protagonist Saitama and his arch rival Amai Mask. However, no word yet if the anime series will completely cut ties with the manga version. Adding to the confusion is if the show would deviate from the webcomic, or even the remake for that matter.
King's real identity is also rumored to be unveiled this upcoming season, as noted by KPop Starz. Based on the manga counterpart of the show, King is described as a Class S Rank 7 hero. Despite being the "Earth's Strongest Man" in the series, King will not be an adversary of Saitama. They will even find a common interest, which in turn will make them friends.
Wherever direction "One Punch Man" goes, fans will be delighted to know that their favorite anime series bagged the Best Manga Series' award in the recently concluded Sugoi Japan 2016 awards. Present to receive the award in last week's ceremony was Yusuke Murata, the original web comic creator. The Sugoi Japan 2016 Awards recognizes anime, manga and light novel series which they nominate online, where fans cast their votes as well. Whichever garners the most votes wins, and adding to the roster of winners are "Your Lie in April" snagging the Best Anime Series Award and "Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?" for the light novel category, as reported by Yibada.
According to The Bitbag, the second season of "One Punch Man" is widely speculated to premiere around the months of November or December of this year. To boot, creator Muruta Yusuke has already announced that the series' second season is in the works.
