'One Piece: Burning Blood' news: Director compares 'Burning Blood' to previous 'One Piece' games; live-action 'One Piece' film announced

"One Piece: Burning Blood," the fighting video game based on the Japanese manga series "One Piece," was released at the end of May in North America.
Unlike most "One Piece" titles, which are typically brawlers or action games, "Burning Blood" has a more direct fighting style featuring an "advanced battle system." This allows players to launch stronger attacks and better block attacks from enemies. The game's characters include a mishmash of pirates, sailors, bounty hunters, and oddballs.
In a recent interview with Anime News Network, series producer KÅji Nakajima and director Hiroyuki Kaneko spoke about what sets "Burning Blood" apart from the other "One Piece" offerings and revealed their favorite aspects of the game.
According to Nakajima, they took great care to recreate the cartoony style of "One Piece" in "Burning Blood," as the manga and anime franchises are very popular, with an instantly recognizable style.
"We took great care to make sure everything from character animation to attack effects were done accurately to the series," he said.
Comparing "Burning Blood" to previous fighting games based on "One Piece," Nakajima said, "'Burning Blood' features a higher level of strategy than past 'One Piece' fighting games with the inclusion of Guard Break to counter Logia users with Haki, Range Attacks, and doge steps."
"However, even though the combat system may be more complex than before we wanted to make sure all level of players could have fun, which is why each character's special attack, their Devil Fruit ability, can be executed by a single button," he added.
In the interview, the "Burning Blood" boss revealed his favorite thing about "Burning Blood," which he said is Drake's ability to turn into a dinosaur. Meanwhile, Kaneko's favorite "Burning Blood" character is Bartolomeo the Cannibal.
In related news, Chinese company Shanghai Minghuan announced on Thursday, June 16, that it is planning on creating a live-acton film based on the "One Piece" manga.
In a press release, the company said that the film will star Japanese actor Masataka Kubota as the "One Piece" protagonist Monkey D. Luffy and Chinese actress Xie Leilei as the heroine Charlotte Purin.
