'Once Upon a Time' season 6 spoilers: Showrunners hint a Lily-Maleficent comeback; Have viewers seen the last of 'Rumbelle'?
Are Maleficent and Lily returning for "Once Upon a Time" season 6? Fans of the show think they should, but what do the showrunners think?
It can be recalled that much of season 4's story arc centered on Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Lily (Agnes Bruckner), with Lily being introduced as Emma's best friend from when she was still under foster care. She eventually turned out as the long-lost daughter of Maleficient (Kristin Bauer van Straten). However, both mother and daughter did not even appear in season 5.
Nevertheless, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, creator Adam Horowitz said they have plans of bringing the two characters back this season.
"I'll say this, we hear the fans," co-creator Edward Kitsis said in the interview. "We know what stories you feel like we've dropped, and we've got an episode for you next year."
If Lily and Maleficent do come back for season 6, fans are hoping that the identity of Lily's father would finally be revealed. Horowitz said in that same interview that they would be addressing "many of those things" in the sixth season, so fans could hope for a love interest for Maleficent to substantiate the plot.
On the other hand, Parent Herald reported that aside from showing two sides to Lana Parilla's character, season 6 could also determine the fate of Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) and Belle (Emilie de Ravin).
The pair has gone through so much in the past seasons, and there are rumors that Belle would finally get tired of Rumplestiltskin's wickedness and call it quits. Viewers have seen how Belle has forgiven him for his mistakes time and time again, but she might have just gotten fed up.
Whether Belle would end it or wake up from the sleeping curse she put on herself towards the end of season 5 to forgive Rumplestiltskin again is something viewers of the show could look forward to.
