'Once Upon a Time' season 6 spoilers, plot news: New villains to terrorize Storybrooke? EPs hint 'something old and something new' in the plot
The season 5 finale of "Once Upon a Time" was indeed an insane roller coaster ride, and as early as now, fans are already excited to see what the show's plot will offer next season.
The season-ender shocked everyone as the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla) made a huge comeback. She was killed but was eventually resurrected only to announce her "war" on Regina Mills, her Storybrooke alter ego. New characters were also introduced in the finale: Dr. Jekyll (Hank Harris) and Mr. Hyde (Sam Witwer). The two are known to use a potion to split their personalities into two different people, and Regina used it on herself to kill the Evil Queen once and for all.
In an exclusive interview with Hollywood Life, Parrilla teased of what's next for season 6 and a "new world" which fans will see. "The other heroes — Hook, the Charmings and Zelena — are pulled into a portal," the actress explained. "They get pulled into this portal and enter this new world that we haven't seen. They'll encounter new characters and some new villains. There's like a patient who's in an institution and his overbearing warden. Those are just a few characters who are going to appear in season 6 for a period of time."
Meanwhile, co-creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis also gave their take on what viewers will see in season 6. they were careful to give out too much details, but they shared how they plan to lay out the story in the upcoming season. "The paradigm for what season six will be is a little bit different than what we've done the last few years, and we're very excited by it. It involves our core group of characters, Storybrooke and flashing back to other realms," Horowitz told The Hollywood Reporter. "It doesn't necessarily mean a journey to someplace else. I think at the end of the finale you'll get a little bit of a taste of how we're going to approach it — it's both a little something old and something new."
The network has yet to announce an official release date for "Once Upon a Time" season 6, but it will likely premiere around September.
