NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti release date news update: Better than Pascal Titan X? Expected to arrive January 2017?

NVIDIA has been enjoying the success of their recently released GTX 10 series graphics cards. The most recent GPUs based on the latest Pascal architecture are the GeForce GTX 1070 and 1080. However, the most expensive and the most powerful video card from the GTX 10 series, the GeForce GTX 1080, was thought to be the best one from NVIDIA yet. Also known as the Pascal Titan X, the highly advanced GPU was unveiled last August, but the rumors are rife that it will be followed by a much superior successor early next year.

If the rumors are anything to go by, NVIDIA may soon reveal the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, the most powerful Pascal-based video card from the company. According to Game N Guide, the GTX 1080 Ti will be officially announced by NVIDIA in January 2017. Nevertheless, it will be wise to take the initial rumors with a grain of salt as the company itself has not yet revealed the official details.

Although it has not been totally confirmed, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is now being regarded y some as the much superior GPU than its predecessor. However, The Bitbag laid out all the available information regarding the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti and the Pascal Titan X to properly compare the two powerful NVIDIA video cards. For one, the Pascal Titan X has a better score with 56 streaming multiprocessor units than the GTX 1080 Ti. The yet-to-be-released graphics card only has 52 units.

Moreover, the Pascal Titan X is using GDDR5X while the GTX 1080 Ti has the GDDR5, having less memory bandwidth compared to its supposed predecessor. OC3D.net also reported that the GTX 1080 Ti only has 10.8 TeraFlops, coming in weaker than the Pascal Titan X's 11 TeraFlops. However, the GTX 1080 Ti is expected to have at least 12GB VRAM.

So far, the GTX 1080 Ti outclasses the Pascal Titan X with respect to the base clock, as the latter only has 1417 MHz that can be boosted up to 1531 MHz at maximum. The GTX 1080 Ti is said to have higher clock speeds compared to the Pascal Titan X.
