Nokia N1 vs iPad Mini Review: Comparison of Specs, Price and Features

A new rival to the iPad mini has emerged in the form of the Nokia N1 tablet, the forthcoming release of which was announced a few days ago.
Last year saw Nokia sell it device and service business to Microsoft for a sum of $7.2 billion. It looks like Nokia hasn't remained idle since then and has been busy creating plans for a tablet.
In the new tablet named the N1, the company looks set to recreate the design of the iPad mini. The similarities between the two start with their screens which both measure at 7.9 inches. The resolution of the Nokia N1 tablet and that of the iPad mini is likewise the same: 2048 x 1536.
The Nokia tablet has many other features that can be found in the iPad mini including its full aluminum body which is anodized.
Needless to say, the only major difference is that the Nokia tablet is powered by the Android 5.0 Lollipop while we all know that the iPad mini is powered by the iOS 8.
The rear of the tablet appears to be just like an iPad mini, with perfect replication of the camera position, additional buttons and the jack for the headphone . The speaker is also placed at the bottom of the device much like the iPad mini.
The only major point of difference is a USB Type-C connector.
The Verge notes that Nokia has tried to make the N1 better than the iPad mini by making it fully laminated. Its design also makes it lighter and thinner than the Apple device.
The Nokia N1 tablet is the first Android tablet to feature the Z Launcher.
As for its camera, the NI features an 8-megapixel camera at the rear, and a 5-megapixel camera in front. Powering the tablet will be a Intel Atom Z3580 2.4GHz quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. As for internal storage the base version comes with 32GB.
The Nokia N1 is due for release in February 2015. It will be launched in China at $249 and will then gradually roll out to other countries.
