Nokia D1C release date, specs rumors: Android smartphone to come in two variants

With Nokia set to return to the smartphone industry, rumors are heating up about what could be the Finnish company's first Android-powered device arriving next year — the D1C. According to the latest reports, consumers will get to see two variants of the upcoming phone.
At this time, Nokia has yet to officially confirm the existence of the D1C. However, the company's plans for 2017, including its return to smartphones, were revealed last month. Furthermore, the smartphone has already appeared in various benchmark databases, making its arrival highly likely.
Based on the report from Nokiapoweruser, the two D1C variants will vary in terms of random access memory, display size and camera specifications.
The entry-level model will feature a 5-inch 1080p display with 2 GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel rear camera. The second variant, meanwhile, will have a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 3 GB of RAM and a 16-megapixel rear shooter.
Based on allegedly leaked images of the Nokia D1C, the device will come in three colors: Gold, White and Black. A fingerprint scanner is said to be embedded in the Home button, which is flanked by two capacitive buttons. Meanwhile, the physical power and volume buttons are located on the upper right side of the smartphone.
Other leaked specifications for the smartphone include a 1.4 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, the Adreno 505 graphics processing unit (GPU), an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, and 16 GB of internal storage.
As mentioned earlier, the Nokia D1C will be running the Android operating system. It is expected to come preinstalled with the Android 7.0 Nougat upon its release.
The Nokia D1C is rumored to be introduced during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February 2017. On the other hand, Nokia could also choose to unveil the device at a separate event. Stay tuned as more news and updates will be revealed in the coming months.
