Nintendo NX release date update: Next big console to be unveiled at Gamescom 2016?
Many tech enthusiasts and spectators thought Nintendo's next big home console would make an appearance at the Tokyo Game Show 2016. However, it appears that the Japanese-based electronic gaming company has already skipped the said gaming event. Nintendo now has a few huge events for them to unveil the powerful NX platform, with the Gamescom 2016 being the most likely choice.

One major indication that the Nintendo NX will make an appearance at the Gamescom 2016 event in Germany on Aug. 17 was the announcement of Gamecube by the Japanese video game retailer. Digital Trends reported that Nintendo also unveiled the Gamecube in August back in 2000, thus raising the speculations that the company would officially announce Nintendo NX around the same month this year.
The month of August would be the best period for Nintendo to finally introduce NX to the public as Sony's PlayStation Neo and Microsoft's Xbox Scorpio have been publicly promoted for the past few weeks. Nintendo was supposed to unveil NX at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 held in Los Angeles, California last June. It can be recalled that Nintendo also used the past E3 events as the center stage to announce Wii and Wii U. However, the company refused to include NX as a part of the event's presentation, leaving the details under wraps as of the meantime.
Rumor has it that Nintendo is planning to design NX as a superior device to go against PlayStation Neo, which is reported to be an updated version of PS4 with 4K screen resolution feature. Nintendo NX is also expected to rival Xbox Scorpio and possibly Xbox Two in the coming years. To make Nintendo NX as powerful as possible, it was reported that the console will use the new and improved version of Polaris GPU created by AMD.
