Nicki Minaj Says Abortion As Teen Has 'Haunted' Her

Pop artist Nicki Minaj recently revealed that an abortion procedure she had in her teens continues to haunt her to this day.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Minaj discussed her new album, The Pinkprint, saying that she hopes to reveal more about her personal life in her new songs, because previously she has kept details of her personal life very private.

"One of my goals was to give people a glimpse into my personal life, because it's something I've kept very private," she told Rolling Stone.

In regard to her abortion, Minaj explained that she had the life-ending procedure done in high school after becoming impregnated by one of her first boyfriends.

"I thought I was going to die," she told the magazine. "I was a teenager. It was the hardest thing I'd ever gone through."

The rap artist went on to say that the decision to have an abortion "haunted me all my life," adding that "It'd be contradictory if I said I wasn't pro-choice. I wasn't ready. I didn't have anything to offer a child."

Minaj had previously revealed details about her abortion in her song "Autobigraphy," which she said she expected no one to listen to. The artist also discusses the procedure in her new song "All Things Go," which premiered earlier in December.

"My child with Aaron, would've have been sixteen, any minute," Minaj rapped in her recent song.

The 32-year-old musical artist also discusses the recent deaths of unarmed men Eric Gardner and Michael Brown in the Rolling Stone interview, as well as her break-up from 11-year boyfriend Safaree Samuels, a record producer.
