According to Evan Blass, a renowned tech leaker, the device will be released in two variants – M1 and S1. Blass' claim makes sense after previous reports of the device given the codename "Marlin" and "Sailfish."

There are also reports circulating that HTC and Google will be working night and day to make sure they produce a game changing device that will change the face of the industry. There are also rumors that Google is preparing to launch their Nexus 7 2016, which could happen at the company's I/O 2016 event.

Meanwhile, Geekbench benchmark has revealed the first hint of the specs of the upcoming Nexus 2016. It was spotted earlier this month and according to the report, the new device will run on Qualcomm 820 processor, along with 4 GB of RAM for the maximum usage of the device. The benchmark also claims that the upcoming Google iteration will come with the company's latest software innovation, Android N.

Google and HTC partnership is nothing new to so many tech observers. HTC has produce several devices for Google's Android such as HTC Dream, which was the first company to have an Android software, Nexus One and the latest one was the Nexus 9 tablet, which was released in 2014. Although HTC has received criticisms on their latest releases, the company is working doubly hard to get a shot at redemption and recreate their status as one of the top dogs in the industry.

Although the Taiwanese tech giant has released their latest high-end smartphone model, HTC 10, they are still way behind Samsung's Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. With the latest rumored collaboration between HTC and Google, a new smartphone could certainly challenge Samsung's flagship handsets.
