Netflix December roster news, updates: Barack Obama biopic 'Barry' to arrive on Dec. 16; 'American Beauty,' 'The Da Vinci Code' to depart

A mix of bittersweet emotions and anticipation is bound to hover over Netflix viewers as an array of blockbusters and award-winning works from Hollywood are bound to leave and arrive come the first day of December. And this doesn't include yet the slew of TV shows.
Heralding the roster of the departing films is the Kevin Spacey–Annette Bening-toting "American Beauty." A winner of Best Picture at the Oscars, along with a multitude of awards such as Spacey's Best Actor and Sam Mendes' Best Direction, the film chronicles the Americans' middle-class notions of beauty and personal satisfaction while examining its characters' redemption, self-liberation, romance and materialism.
Also leaving is 2007's "Elizabeth: The Golden Age." With three-time Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett leading the cast, viewers are now urged to watch it before the it finally exits with "American Beauty" on Dec. 1.
Other notable films departing the streaming giant on the first week of next month are "Topgun" (1986), "World Trade Center" (2006), "50 First Dates" (2004), "Paycheck" (2003) and "Thor: Hammer of the Gods" (2009).
Of course, the departure of shows from Netflix also comes with a sweet exchange of movies and TV shows as there are a few coming in December. Perhaps the biggest entry next month is the biopic of President Barack Obama "Barry." The Vikram Gandhi-directed drama film about the U.S. President will star Devon Terrell, Ashley Judd, Anya Taylor-Joy and Ellar Coltrane among others. It will debut on Netflix on Dec. 16.
Some of the blockbuster films that are scheduled to arrive next month include Ridley Scott's "Hannibal" in 2001, "Black Snake Moan" in 2007 and "The Angry Birds Movie" in 2016.
Meanwhile, a horde of Netflix Originals is also bound to debut in sporadic dates in December. "Fauda," "Hip Hop Evolution," "Pacific Heat," "The Cuba Libre Story," "White Rabbit Project" and "Call Me Francis" comprise this new set.
