'NCIS' season 14 release date, spoilers news: Wedding bells will be ringing for a couple

A still featuring Delilah and McGee from \"NCIS\" season 13 | CBS

"NCIS" season 14 will be a life-changing season for Tim McGee (Sean Murray), who is about to make big step in both his career and relationship.

Executive producer Gary Glasberg has confirmed that McGee will take over the position of Tony Dinozzo (Michael Weatherly) following his decision to take care of his daughter.

"He has taken over that mantle," Glasberg revealed to TVGuide. "And with that comes tremendous responsibility," he teased of McGee's promotion in "NCIS" season 14.

Glasberg also revealed that McGee will pop the question to Delilah (Margo Harshman) in the next season of "NCIS." It does not look like she will be rejecting McGee.

The EP teased that the wedding is being set for "NCIS" season 14, which means that McGee will go through a lot of big changes in his life in the upcoming season.

Media outlets hope that the wedding will be a reason that Weatherly will return at least for a cameo in "NCIS" season 14. The actor left the series after starring in it since the beginning.

A guy like Dinozzo is not one to miss out on a friend's big day and so fans could be looking at a potential small return here. Of course, nothing is set in stone for now.

"NCIS" season 14 will be the first time Weatherly will not be on the show. However, there will be a slew of newcomers to follow including Wilmer Valderrama, who will play the role of Special Agent Nicholas Torres, who has been undercover long enough to be presumed dead.

Jennifer Esposito will also appear in the new season as Special Agent Alex Quinn, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center instructor. Duane Henry will be back as MI6 Officer Clayton Reeves in episode 5.

"There's something really fun coming up—we've rearranged things a bit. I think the fans are going to go a little crazy," Glasberg teased to TVLine of what's next for the most watched drama.

"NCIS" season 14 will premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
