Long-running police procedural series "NCIS" recently came to a close with a heart-wrenching finale as Special Agent Anthony "Tony" DiNozzo Jr. (Michael Weatherly) bid farewell to the show, which also happens to be the highlight of the whole episode.

The veteran actor called the show home for 14 years, and his departure surely made a huge impact on how the plot will play out in the future. Weatherly might have left the show for good, but he made it clear that he is not closing his doors for possible return visits as a guest star."I believe in the franchise of NCIS very much," Weatherly told Parade. "It's why I went and did NCIS: Los Angeles last year and NCIS: New Orleans. In fact last year, I did 26 episodes of the NCIS franchise, which is insane...I would absolutely be open to anything and everything — including things that no one's even thought of yet, so I would say the long answer is yes." Weatherly is currently working on a newly greenlit CBS series titled "Bull" where he plays the role of a jury consultant, a character inspired by "Dr. Phil" McGraw.

As for casting news, two additional actors will be promoted as series regulars for season 14. Sarah Clarke and Duane Henry are set to become regulars in their roles as Tess Monroe and Clayton Reeves, respectively. Reports say that it will be one of the major changes in the show since it happens to be the biggest addition to the cast. It remains to be seen how the two actors will fit in the ensemble cast, but it will definitely lay the groundwork for more interesting story arcs in the future.

The network has yet to officially announce an exact premiere date for "NCIS" season 14, but based on the previous seasons, the show will likely return to the small screen late September of this year.
