'NCIS' season 14 episode 10 spoilers: Ducky goes back to his past; drop in ratings might cause show's cancellation

Ducky (David McCallum) finds himself involved in an ongoing case. Meanwhile, the show might not be renewed for a new season if ratings continue to drop.
In the upcoming 10th episode of "NCIS" season 14 titled "The Tie That Binds," Ducky will be going down memory lane when he finds himself connected to an ongoing case of the NCIS unit.
As seen from the episode promo, the victim found dead will have Ducky's address in his pocket, and Ducky will go back to a time that he spent with his mother. In his flashbacks, young Ducky will be played, once again, by Adam Campbell.
The synopsis of the upcoming episode read: "After the NCIS team tracks evidence from the murder of a Navy captain to Ducky's deceased mother, Ducky looks back and questions a pivotal life choice he made 37 years ago. Also, the team exchanges holiday gifts, and Gibbs (Mark Harmon) spends Christmas dinner with Fornell (Joe Spano)."
Meanwhile, there have been a lot of speculations pointing out that "NCIS" will no longer be renewed for another season by CBS because of its dropping ratings.
The Morning Ledger reports that since Michael Weatherly exited the show in season 13 as Special Agent Tony DiNozzo, "NCIS" on its current season has received its lowest rating since its initial debut in 2003. There have also been rumors that another pivotal character, either Jethro Gibbs or Dr. Mallard, will also be exiting the show when season 14 ends.
There have been reports saying Weatherly will return as a guest star to "NCIS" to save the series from cancellation. However, according to Parent Herald, Weatherly will not be coming back because he is already occupied in the new series titled "Bull," which was recently renewed for a second season.
TV Series Finale revealed that "NCIS" still garners 13 million viewers on average, but the count has already declined from 15 million. If its viewership and ratings continue to decline, CBS might take it as an indicator to pull the plug on the show.
"NCIS" season 14 airs every Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
