This month marks the beginning of filming for "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8. The show's production manager, Rick Tunell shared some interesting tidbits about the filming on his Twitter account. He said "new faces and surprises" are to be expected this season.

Meanwhile, the show's executive producer, John Peter Kousakis said the upcoming season would be worth looking forward to what with the core cast returning to assume their characters this season. Callen (Chris O'Donnell), Kensi (Daniela Ruah), Sam (LL Cool J) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) will all be returning.

Scott Gemmill, "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8's new executive producer, likewise hinted that Deeks and Kensi might take their relationship to the next level through a marriage proposal. The Bitbag said the Deeks-Kensi romantic angle is one of the things that add flavor to the show and lightens up the otherwise heavy storylines.

Nevertheless, in an interview with TV Guide, Gemmill, who is replacing former showrunner Shane Brennan, warned fans not to expect the engagement to happen right from the get-go of season 8.

"I already know how we're going to do it. It's just, the fans have waited long enough that we want it to be worth the wait," he said.

Fans were concerned when Brennan left in the thick of things to sign a two-year contract with CBS to create a TV series based on "The Expendables." However, Kousakis assured fans that there is no way for "NCIS: Los Angeles" to go but up.

The International Business Times also said that according to Kousakis, "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 will be "sensational" and "won't disappoint" the fans.

Since season 8 will be picking up where the previous season left off, fans could expect Callen to continue his journey towards self-discovery, particularly his true identity and family origins.

"NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 will return to the small screen on Oct. 2 on CBS.
