Christian professional basketball player Kevin Durant has reportedly been "removed from all basketball activities" for the Oklahoma City Thunder after continuing to experience soreness in his right foot following a surgery.

Sam Presti, general manager of the professional basketball team, said in a statement this week that Durant is "not making the progress we'd hoped or expected."

Presti added that the team's management is likely going to have Durant sit out for the remainder of the season, telling reporters that "essentially, that's the direction we're headed right now."

According to ESPN, Durant has been experiencing ongoing soreness in his right foot after he had a screw inserted in 2014 to help adjust a fracture. The player's foot is reportedly not healing as quickly as Oklahoma City Thunder's doctors and coaches predicted.

Reporters have taken to social media to report on Durant's injury, with Howard Beck, a senior writer for the Bleacher Report, tweeting: "On timetable, Presti says simply 'He's not going to be playing right now.' Does not indicate whether Durant could return for playoffs."

Durant had been returning to portions of practice with the Thunder in recent weeks, but the team's coach Scott Brooks said in a statement that Durant was held out of Thursday's practice due to continued soreness.

Brooks confirmed that the player was "experiencing a little bit of soreness," adding "that's expected. We have some peaks and valleys, and we always have a cautious approach, so today he didn't do anything."
