'NBA 2KVR Experience' release date, news & updates: 2K gives NBA 2K fans a taste of a more immersive basketball simulation game

2K officially released its "NBA 2KVR Experience" on Tuesday, Nov. 22, for PlayStation 4 (PS4), HTC Vive and Samsung Gear Virtual Reality (VR), bringing the basketball simulation game to a whole new level.
The "NBA 2K VR Experience" is priced at $14.99 and it does not really come with the full game experience like the "NBA 2K17," but it only consists of a collection of mini-games with narration from the "NBA 2K17" star cover, Paul George.
The "NBA 2KVR Experience" basically boasts its new and immersive National Basketball Association (NBA) gameplay environment, full with lights and sounds and great challenges.
"Our team consistently looks for new ways to deliver unique, fun experiences for the gamer," says Greg Thomas, 2K President of Visual Concepts. "NBA 2KVR will give fans even more access to our franchise and test new skills across entertaining VR challenges," he added.
Paul George's narration, on the other hand, gives players tips and guidance especially when it comes to three-point shootouts, speed and accuracy skills challenge, and in the buzzer beater countdown. Furthermore, players can also earn Gatorade fuel boosts that can help in their shooting acumen, speed and recovery.
"As a lifelong fan of NBA 2K, it's exciting to see them take the leap into VR, and even more exciting that it'll be on my home court," cover star George said. "I can't wait for fans to dominate on the virtual court with virtual help from Gatorade."
The video game industry lauded 2K's new efforts to familiarize itself with the VR scene. Although "NBA 2KVR Experience" does not exactly boast of a mind-blowing VR tech, it is still considered a good start for the gaming publisher to try their hand on VR support.
"NBA 2KVR" is now available for PS4, HTC Vive, Samsung Gear VR and later on for Oculus Rift.
