NBA 2K16, the sim oriented pro basketball game that has captured the hearts of fans worldwide, seems slated for an October 2015 release, in time for the 2015-16 NBA season, based on industry rumors.

Originally developed by Sega dream cast from 1999 to 2011, the franchise was taken over by publishers 2K. The game is at its 15th year with NBA 2K15 just released.

The Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets' Twitter accounts on January 2015 were abuzz with shots of players getting their full body scan, with captions confirming that scans are for the NBA 2K16 game. More teams are expected to join. A dancer from the Los Angeles Lakers, Natalie Tenerelli, also tweeted that she had a body scan. This is a departure from past games wherein only face scans of players were taken.

Apart from the improvement of using body scans, fans are hoping that their feedback on the past games will be taken into consideration. Based on the NBA 2K16 Wish list, these would include improved simulation of the sophisticated graphics, improved rating system to enable difference between gold and bronze team, improvement or removal of the Myteam mode, and more realistic crowd and basketball floor. Gamers likewise want more physical interaction and less game defaults.

With the drawbacks of the 2K15 version, which was released to mixed fan reviews, gamers are expecting a lot more from this new release. Fans wish that 2K would focus more on the gaming aspect rather than side earning options, so that NBA 2K16 would deliver on its promise of being the perfect sim game.

It is expected that 2K will launch this new version during the video game convention E3, or the Electronic Entertainment Expo, scheduled in June 2015. This will be the right timing for a release in October 2015, as speculated. The game is expected to come out to Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC.
