'Nashville' season 5 spoilers news 2016: Juliette survives plane crash but has tough times ahead of her

Juliette (Panettiere) in \"Nashville\" promo still | ABC

"Nashville" survived the limbo stage, and the musical drama gears up for its fifth season on a different channel. And with just weeks away from the premiere, a lot of details regarding the revitalized show has been making the rounds online.

A recent article published by TV Guide cites that the upcoming iteration of the series looks promising which makes it more exciting for fans who had suffered a mini-heart attack when it was canceled by ABC. For quite some time since then, fans actively campaigned for another platform to pick it up to at least give it a proper ending should season 5 be its last. Especially so since season 4 ended in a cliffhanger with Juliette's (Hayden Panettiere) plane sending a distress signal and then gone missing. But now that "Nashville" is moving forward with a new home with CMT, the narrative does not dwell much on the mystery.

"We know she's alive, and we know her plane crashed. So you can imagine that whatever journey she's on, it's going to be a very emotional one," reporter Natalie Abrams shared on her "Spoiler Room" feature for Entertainment Weekly. "But Juliette isn't the only one having trouble finding her way when the show picks up. The crash has a surprising effect on Rayna, who finds herself wanting to make a big change after some soul-searching."

Based on this, it sounds like while Juliette will survive the horrific accident, that does not mean that she is already in the clear in terms of where her story is going moving forward. As for Rayna (Connie Britton), an indirect impact of the recent events that Juliette is subjected to will be a huge plot point for her. This also makes for a good narrative ploy in case rumors of Britton eventually leaving the show hold some truth to it.

Those who are already looking forward to how Juliette and the rest of "Nashville" will tread in their respective stories, a sneak peek of season 5 will debut on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 9/8c on CMT. Meanwhile, the two-hour season 5 premiere is scheduled to air Thursday, Jan. 5 at 9/8c on the same channel. A tie-up with streaming service Hulu will make episodes available right after they are broadcasted.
