'Nashville' season 4 spoilers news: Maddie seeks independence from her parents, goes one step ahead of her mother Rayna

This week's episode 18 of "Nashville" season 4 will feature Maddie (Lennon Stella) as she takes the step to bring her emancipation battle to court. Deacon (Charles Esten) and Rayna (Cornie Britton) have been so used to facing the legal battle among themselves, but this time, Maddie will be present to fight for her case. However, the parents' burden will be heavier, as they will be betrayed by a person whom they considered as someone very close to them. Who could that person be? Reports point to Frankie (Mark Collie) as the suspected traitor.

As noted in spoilers for "The Trouble with the Truth," Cash (Jessy Schram) will help Maddie in her fight to seek emancipation from her parents. Cash also happens to be the daughter of Decon's business partner, which makes the situation even more problematic. In two days, Maddie will have a court date but Deacon can't do anything to stop it. After all, Teddy remains to be her legal guardian even if he is not her biological father. Rayna is getting anxious about the case, so she plans on reaching out to her ex-husband to talk him into signing an affidavit in her favor. On the other hand, Maddie seems to be playing her cards well, as she already organized a meeting with Teddy to have him plead in her favor.

The official synopsis from the network reads:

Rayna and Deacon fight to regain the trust of a determined Maddie as she seeks independence, but their efforts are undermined by someone they thought was an ally. Scarlett and Gunnar disagree on the history of their musical partnership during a press interview. Luke tries to do the right thing for an artist he admires, but it ends up backfiring. Country music star Kelsea Ballerini performs "Peter Pan" in a guest appearance as herself, on "Nashville," Wednesday, May 4 (10:00â€“11:00 p.m. EDT), on the ABC Television Network.
