'Narcos' season 3 air date, news, spoilers: Andrea Londo is newest face; plot moves on to Cali Cartel
The third season of Netflix's original drama "Narcos" is gradually taking shape, and a new female character has been tapped to join the critically-acclaimed show.
New cast members
As reported by Deadline, Londo will portray the role of Maria, a young and attractive former Columbian beauty queen who is very knowledgeable when it comes to survival. How her character will play into the story is yet to be seen, but viewers can expect that she will somehow have an impact on the Cali Cartel's operation.
Londo is best known for her role as Carmen in the 2016 short film "Pasaporte" and as Teen Monica in "Time in Between." The young actress has also starred in recent TV shows including "Catfish: The TV Show" as Jacqueline and "Faking It" as Edie. Aside from "Narcos," she will next be seen in a 2017 episode of "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" titled "Lost Souls."
Other new faces joining the cast for "Narcos" season 3 include Nicholas Gonzalez and Michael Stahl-David.
Returning characters
Pedro Pascal, who plays DEA agent Javier Peña, has already been confirmed to be back when Netflix released the first promo image for season 3. He appears to be conducting a briefing in the headquarters, which is possibly about the new cartel who will take over the reins after Escobar's death. Meanwhile, Boyd Holbrook has yet to announce his return as DEA agent Steve Murphy.
Cali Cartel
Following Pablo Escobar's (Wagner Moura) demise, season 3 centers on the end of Medellin Cartel and the rise of Cali Cartel. Heading this organization are the so-called Cali godfathers, including Miguel (Francisco Denis), Gilberto, Pacho Herrera (Alberto Ammann) and the shadowy fourth brother only known as "Chepe". Similar to Pablo's fate, their endings are just as bad, but how each of them gets there is the most interesting part.
"Narcos" season 3 is expected to premiere mid-2017 on Netflix.
