'Narcos' season 2 spoilers, plot news 2016: Escobar's famous death scene filmed in Medellin

Netflix's crime thriller "Narcos" has been renewed for another season last September, and fans are anticipating the show's return this year. Not much reports have confirmed what's in store for the upcoming season, but rumor has it that it will premiere around August which is also the same month season 1 was released.

According to reports, the show will have changes not only in front of the camera but also behind it. Showrunner Adam Fierro exited the show before the first season concluded, leaving Eric Newman and Jose Padilha in charge as executive producers. Early this year, Newmann hinted that season 2 will feature the death of lead character Pablo Escobar. "Trust me, if we could find a way to keep him alive and keep Wagner on the show..." he told Slashfilm. "He will die. The design of the show is we told 15 years of history in season one. At the point of Escobar's escape which is the summer of 1992, Escobar has 18 months to live. That's not something we can change. To stretch that out beyond another season would be disingenuous of us. That story was always designed to have an ending."

The production aims to keep the scenes as authentic as they can, since the show is loosely based on Escobar's life. In their effort to recreate Escobar's fatal shootout, they tried to do it in Medellin, the exact place where he was murdered way back 1993.

According to TMZ, the production team tracked down the person who currently rents the house, but unfortunately, they were not allowed. The tenant reportedly disagreed as a sign of respect to the community and the house owner. Though mocking Escobar's memory is still considered taboo in the area, the crew eventually found a person who agreed to have a mock up done on his roof. The media outlet also released photos of the show filming for season 2, particularly Escobar's death scene.

As of the moment, Netflix has not yet issued any official update regarding the show. "Narcos" season 2 is expected to roll out sometime this year, and all the episodes will be available for streaming on Netflix.
