Pablo Escobar, the main protagonist of "Narcos" is confirmed to die in the upcoming season 2. However, fans of the show need not worry because the showrunners announced that the series goes on without him.

Recently, the producers of "Narcos" gave some details on how the plot will play out following Escobar's demise. "There are any number of things that can happen after. We have not committed to one or the other. Obviously there are a lot of other stories in this world that continue on beyond him," the showrunner told Slash Film. "In some ways, for me, what they've done with 'Homeland' after losing Damian Lewis after season three is sort of amazing. To tell you the truth, most of my thinking is about season two because we're in the middle of it and I haven't thought that much about where do we go from here. I just want the best version of season two," he added.

Newman also pointed out how the show has developed since its first season, as well as his hopes for season 2. "The first season was such a joy working in Colombia," he said. "Production hasn't changed that much. The first season was a lot of information, a lot of setups. We need to tell you about this world. Now that we're in the world, we can spend more time with the people in the world and the characters. So I would say that season two is more character driven. Less voiceover I hope."

Despite the optimism in the show for pushing through after Escobar's death, rumor has it that the second season will be the last. Reports say that if the rumors were indeed true, Netflix will pull the plug on the widely-popular show right after its two-year run. It is expected to premiere in August, similar to when the first season arrived last year. Furthermore, there are speculations of a production issue, which might cause a delay in the release date. In any case, Netflix has yet to confirm a conclusive launch for the series.
