'Narcos' season 2 release date, spoilers news: Pablo Escobar dies, storyline revealed, show set for August 2016 premiere

Columbia's most notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar returns on "Narcos" season 2, but his stint won't be for long since the lead character will die once the show returns. The production for season 2 officially wrapped up late last month, and post-production could be finished around June 20 to 25. That being said, the show might be headed for an August 2016 premiere which is the initial goal of the network.
Series composer Pedro Bromfman recently caught up with iDigital Times, where he confirmed that only two episodes are left to score. He also gave his take on how the story will play out, saying, "Season 2 is a lot about, of course, the fall of Escobar and the fall of the MedellÃn cartel, and the rise of the Cali cartel. We start meeting a lot of new characters in Season 2, and we start understanding how the situation expanded from MedellÃn to Cali and everything that took place."
Without Pablo Escobar in the picture, it might be difficult for "Narcos" to move forward. On the other hand, the original plan for the show was to put focus on the cartel activity itself and not on a central character. "It just shifts places, but it keeps moving. As long as there are people buying drugs, there'll be bad guys trying to provide them and killing people and doing things. As long as they are illegal, and as long there are people interested in them, apparently there's no stopping it. Now it's in Mexico, but it did go around. It did go around for a long time," he added.
Netflix has yet to announce when "Narcos' season 2 officially premieres, but the goal is to have it out by August 2016. More details concerning the cast and storyline are expected to be released once post-production is done.
