'Narcos' season 2 release date, plot spoilers: Wagner Moura speaks on his final season; How will series move forward without Pablo Escobar?

Drug kingpin Pablo Escobar will finally meet his demise in the upcoming return of "Narcos" season 2 next month. With the main character dying in the story, fans are now wondering how the critically-acclaimed drama will more forward. Will Escobar's end also mark the show's conclusion?
According to executive producer Eric Newman, the series will continue even without Escobar. "We plan on stopping when cocaine stops," he explained. "I think there's a reason why we call this show Narcos and not Pablo Escobar. It's very much about the trade. There are other drug dealers and there are alliances formed against Pablo so there is a multitude of stories we could tackle."
Escobar's portrayer Wagner Moura was present during last week's TCA summer press tour and he confirmed that season 2 will be his last appearance. He mentioned that this season will see Escobar in his most vulnerable state as opposed to his strong persona in season 1. Despite Escobar having all the spotlight, the supporting characters will also go through a lot of struggles.
"You're going to see Murphy and Peña as well," Moura told Slash Film. "They go through a very interesting emotional journey because they get so obsessed about killing Pablo that the things they decide to do in order to kill him make them become something like him. So the moral barriers that people have to break in order to achieve what they want. It's very character driven, the second season. And also Tata and Pablo's family. Tata becomes a very, very important character in the second season."
The Netflix original drama follows riveting real-life tales of notorious drug kingpins during the late '80s. Season 1 tackled a huge chunk of Escobar's life while season 2 will feature his last days before being killed by the police. There's no telling how the series will transition to a different plot, but it will certainly serve yet another gripping story which fans should look forward to.
All 10 episodes of "Narcos" season 2 premiere on Friday, Sept. 2 on Netflix.
