"Narcos" is all set to premiere its second season next month, with fans hoping to see a lot of loose ends tied before drug kingpin Pablo Escobar meets his demise.

Season 2 will document the last moments of Escobar's life before he was fatally shot by the police. Since the show is based on a true story, creators went out of their way to be as realistic as possible â€” even filming the drug lord's death in the same neighborhood where the real-life Escobar was killed. Aside from showing Escobar as he tries to run from the authorities, the story will also reveal layers of the supporting characters. Viewers will see how his actions will influence the other key players in the show.

Speaking with Telegraph, Moura mentioned how being in the show widened his perspective on the problem of drug addiction. "I see the policy towards drugs, especially in America, North America and South America, is completely wrong. It's proved to be a flop," he said. The 40-year-old explained that even though addiction is an important issue that should be addressed, it "has to be treated as a health problem and not as a police problem."

Moura shared that Escobar's "bad energy" rubbed off on him as the story progressed. However, his goal was to show  the notorious criminal's other side instead of just highlighting what the general public already knows. Aside from leading a drug cartel, Moura emphasized that Escobar was also a father and a family man. "He was someone who at some point was concerned about the situation of poor people in his hometown," said the actor.

He describes the two seasons portraying Escobar as an "intense experience" but now that filming is done, he admits feeling relieved of not having to carry the dark character anymore.

"Narcos" season 2 will be released in its entirety on Friday, Sept. 2 on Netflix.
