'Mr. Robot' season 3 news, updates: Rami Malek confirms filming scene for upcoming season; Lead star reflects on winning Emmy Award

Fresh from his Emmy win, "Mr. Robot" star Rami Malek recently revealed that he has already filmed scenes for the suspense drama's upcoming third season.
A few days prior to the season 2 finale, Malek was present at the Emmy Awards where he won as Best Actor in a Drama Series. It wasn't an easy feat, however, since he was up against veteran actors including Kyle Chandler ("Bloodline"), Bob Odenkirk ("Better Call Saul"), Matthew Rhys ("The Americans"), Liev Schreiber ("Ray Donovan") and Kevin Spacey ("House of Cards").
Malek, an Egyptian-American, is the first minority to win the said award in 18 years. During a backstage interview after receiving his award, Malek shared his roots and his family's struggles. "I grew up in a family that immigrated here and my Dad worked door-to-door selling insurance and my Mom was pregnant with my (twin) brother and I going to work, taking three buses to get there," he told Deadline. "It was so that she could give her child an opportunity to be special. My sister is an ER doctor, my brother is a teacher and I'm standing here today."
Additionally, Malek was asked by reporters for updates on the upcoming season, to which he joked: "Absolutely not!" With a grin, the Emmy-winning actor added: "But I have shot a scene from season 3."
Midway through its second season run, "Mr. Robot" was renewed for a third season by USA back in August. After being a strong ratings contender when its first season aired, the series' linear ratings declined in season 2, garnering Live+same day lows of 572,000 viewers and a 0.22 rating for adults 18-49. Aside from the recent Emmy Award for Malek, the series has previously won two Golden Globe Awards, one of which for best drama series, three Critics' Choice Awards, a Peabody Award, a TCA Award for Outstanding New Program and a WGA Award for Best New Series.
The third season of "Mr. Robot" is expected to premiere sometime next year on USA.
