'Mr. Robot' season 2 updates and spoilers news: Plot to focus more on Elliot's origin and the events after the huge fsociety hacking; actor Rami Malek describes how he will approach the new season

Award-winning rookie suspense drama "Mr. Robot" left viewers a lot of questions when it ended last September, and fans are still wondering what will happen to Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek) after the huge fsociety hack.
To recap, season 1 came to a close with Elliot being confronted by the truth that his father who died of cancer when he was just little has just been a delusion. He also discovered that Mr. Robot is actually him. The upcoming sophomore season will see Elliot becoming at odds with himself after realizing that his father (Christian Slater) is just an imagination and that he was actually responsible for the downfall of E Corp.
In an interview with Vulture, Malek hints how he will approach this new season which will put more focus on Elliot and his origins even more. "In the first season, I treated Christian's Robot as I would treat any other character. That was Elliot's reality," the actor explained. "Delving into the second season, you have Elliot facing this realization that none of what he was seeing was real. To acknowledge that type of psychosis is a very scary place."
He also described how his experience in playing his character makes him have the same questions asked by Elliot in terms of the inequality in the society. "It's a very vulnerable process being in Elliot's shoes because I can't help but ask the same questions of myself that he poses in the show," Malek said, two weeks into season 2 production. "Sometimes that can be quite devastating. But there's something very comforting, sadly, about putting that dark wardrobe back on. It draws a lot from me as a human being and an actor. Once we started shooting again, there was a sigh of relief that came over me, even though I knew I was going into some pretty dark waters."
"Mr. Robot" is expected to premiere sometime in the Fall on USA Network.
