'Mr. Robot' season 2 spoilers: Elliot and Darlene doubt Dark Army's allegiance in episode 9; Creator Sam Esmail hints more shocking plot twists ahead
USA network's critically-acclaimed psychological drama "Mr. Robot" is only two episodes away from its two-part special finale, and the stakes are getting higher as the second season nears its end.
The past few episodes were nothing but shockers, with episode 7 revealing that the previous episodes were just hallucinations of Elliot (Rami Malek) and episode 8 featuring Darlene (Carly Chaikin) as she avenged her father's death by killing E Corp chief counsel Susan Jacobs (Sandrine Holt).
According to the official synopsis for next week's episode titled "eps2.7init5.fve," Angela (Portia Doubleday) will attempt to get more from Evil Corp. The characters will begin to doubt the Dark Army's allegiance while Eliott and Darlene band together to seek answers. "You did what you had to do. Now it's time to go home," Edward (Christian Slater) tells his son Elliot in the promo clip for episode 9. The next scene cuts to Elliot saying he doesn't feel right while Darlene tells him that they "seriously need to talk." Darlene is starting to suspect that Dark Army might be cleaning house, and she needs Elliot's help to know more about their next move.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, creator/showrunner Sam Esmail hints more big reveals and shocking plot twists are up ahead because it's the true nature of the show. "The show has a lot of mystery to it, he explained. "There's a lot of questions that we haven't answered and it all sort of depends on what the big twist or the big reveals are."
He added, "... because this show is so shrouded in mystery, because we don't understand everyone's motivations, because there a lot of questions about what's going on behind the scenes, we are going to always have reveals that may surprise, may shock or may not, and I think that's kind of in the DNA of the show."
