'Mr. Robot' season 2 release date, plot news: Premiere set for July, Rami Malek talks about his role as a hacker

Award-winning USA series "Mr. Robot" wrapped up its first season with a successful run, and season 2 will definitely bring a lot more to the table next month.
Lead star Rami Malek recently caught up with The Wrap, and he mentioned how difficult it was to be cautious in giving away spoilers for the show's new season. "I had to keep my mouth shut for a while," he said. "As much as you might think that's fun to know something nobody else does, there's a sense of impending doom that you might spill the beans."
Since he portrays a hacker, Malek somewhat has a grasp on how real-life hackers operate which makes him more cautious of his security and privacy. "Don't you worry that someone's on this phone call right now trying to get information about the next season from both of us? That's why I'm not on my cell phone," the actor said.
The show's first season may have brought some surprising twists, but series creator Sam Esmail previously discussed that it was not his main goal to shock everyone. he aims to keep true to the story he is trying to tell, and the shock factor just comes as a bonus. "I'm not interested in gotcha moments or trying to shock the audience," Esmail stated. "Even though it happens, I think it really happens because Rami [Malek] really plays Elliot in a way that draws you into his psyche. So you're learning it with him. As long as that's organic, as long as that feels real, the twists will come from there. It's not my agenda to keep shocking you."
For the uninitiated, the series centers on the exploits of Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek), an IT security engineer/hacker and drug addict. He is mentored by a mysterious person going by the name of Mr. Robot (Christian Slater), who is also the leader of a hacktivist group called fsociety. The organization's main goal is to expose the evil corporations in their oppressive deeds.
"Mr. Robot" returns for its second season this coming July 16 on USA.
