Moto Z Play release date, specs rumors: Smartphone to sport 5.5-inch design, fingerprint scanner, higher battery capacity?

The month of June was a great period for Lenovo to launch the brand new Motorola smartphones. It has long been rumored that the tech company would be introducing a new Moto smartphone line that will replace the previous Moto X series. To be exact, 2015's Moto X Play and Moto X Style are reborn as this year's Moto Z and Moto Z Force. However, it seems that the Play title from the Moto X series will be used once again for a third Moto Z variant. If the rumors are correct, the Moto Z Play will be released very soon, possibly within the coming weeks.
As reported by Know Your Mobile, the info regarding the Moto Z Play came from the Indian import tracker Zauba. Its database shows the shipping information of all the test unit handsets being transported to India. Zauba revealed details about various Samsung handsets being shipped to India for testing, just a short period of time before their official launching in the market. This time around, the latest info from Zauba reveals a new Moto handset. Also, if the information is now reflected in the database, it could mean that the release date for the said Moto handset is imminent.
Specifically, the Zauba listing describes a handset known as a Motorola Vertex. The codename Vertex was used previously to refer to the Moto X Play, and according to the info, the new Motorola Vertex has a 5.5-inch screen display. This is similar to the Moto X Play handset. As the Moto X series is already replaced by Moto Z, this could mean that the Vertex listing might be referring to the new Moto Z Play model. Moreover, according to other reports, this new Moto Z handset will be packed with a larger battery compared to the previous Moto X Play. It is also expected to boast heightened phone security features with a possible iris scanner technology.
