Moto X release date and specs rumors: Flagship smartphone to be named Moto Z, will come in two variants?

Motorola is said to be replacing their flagship smartphone from Moto X to Moto Z. According to reports, the company is expected to reveal the new brand name anytime soon. There are reports circulating that a press image for a company event shows the image of the new smartphone.
Many fans are expecting Motorola to launch the new Moto Z at the upcoming June 9 event in San Francisco. According to reports, the decision of the company to rebrand the Moto X series is part of their transitioning plan. Motorola is no longer owned by Google following an acquisition from the Chinese tech manufacturer, Lenovo. There are speculations going all over the Internet that Moto Z will be released in two variants – the Moto Z Play and Moto Z Style.
In previous reports, it was leaked in December of last year that Moto X 2016 was going to be redesigned with a metal casing and a much larger main camera compared to its predecessor. However, the report was not confirmed by the manufacturer.
The new leaked image of the device is said to be legit by many tech observers. It shows what appears to be an invitation of an upcoming event in California. According to reports, the June 9 affair coincides with a scheduled Lenovo event called Tech World 2016.
Nonetheless, fans are still waiting for the company to finally make the device official. As of the moment, Motorola and Lenovo have yet to provide any statement with regard to the rumored Moto Z.
Meanwhile, the upcoming flagship smartphone is said to be packed with impressive specs headed by the Snapdragon 820 processor for the Moto Style variant. On the other hand, the Moto Play will run on a less powerful Snapdragon 625 chip.
According to the report, both models will come with a 5.5-inch Quad HD display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution.
