Moto X 2016 release date, specs update: Price cuts on the current iteration signals the arrival of the new Moto X?

Lenovo's newest smartphone under the Motorola brand name, Moto X, has been making quite a buzz lately. A new online leak has shown several images of the device, which showcase its design and features. The handset is said to have fairly curved edges and sport a 5.5-inch display, which is a big plus as consumers nowadays prefer devices with big screens compared to small ones.
It is also hard to miss the smartphone's home button on the images. It is surrounded by a square metal ring and according to some people, the home button of the device will also act as a fingerprint sensor.
Mobi Picker reported that the AMOLED display system of the smartphone also features the Shattershield protection technology from Motorola.
There are speculations suggesting that the leaked images came from a source that is currently working for the company. It also explains the message that came with the photos that says, "Motorola confidential property not for sale."
Meanwhile, Phone Dog reported that the current iteration of the Moto X, which came out in 2014, is now being put on sale for $149.99. For consumers who wish to purchase the device for a cheaper price, they must use the promo code, SPRINGISHERE. The code is said to apply for both versions of Moto X 2014 – the 32 GB and 64 GB, which are being sold $199.99 and $249.99 respectively without the code.
Although the Moto X 2014 isn't the best smartphone in the market today, for $149.99, it should be one of the best deals out there. It has a 5.2-AMOLED display system and sport a Snapdragon 801 processor from Qualcomm. It also has a 13-megapixel primary shooter, which was considered as one of the best when it came out two years ago.
The price cut on the current Moto X model also signals the arrival of the Moto X 2016.
