Mother Thankful for Birth of 'Miracle Baby' After Nepal Earthquake
A victim of the recent earthquake in Nepal has reportedly given birth to a healthy baby boy after digging herself out of the rubble.
28-year-old Dolma Tamang was pinned under her collapsed home in Nepal on April 25 after a massive 7.8 earthquake rocked the Asian country, killed over 8,000 and injuring over 18,000.
Although Tamang managed to crawl herself out of the rubble, she was badly injured and could not move. The 28-year-old woman went in to labor right as she was discovered by a mobile Japanese health clinic.
"I was so worried about the baby, that I did not care about my own health, even though I had wounds everywhere and had trouble breathing", Tamang said.
Tamang told BBC News that despite of the massive natural disaster and the loss of her home, she is thankful for the survival of her child.
"Even though we lost almost all of our belongings and live in a temporary shelter, I could not be happier and more thankful for this little miracle," she said.
The Huffington Post reports that another mother, 27-year-old Ranjita Shreshta, told The Huffington Post that she sees her daughter's birth right after the massive 7.8 earthquake as a sign of hope for the future.
"In years to come, I will tell her, 'You were given a life when others had theirs taken away,'" Shreshta told the media outlet.
Following the massive April earthquake, Nepal was hit with an alarming 7.3 magnitude aftershock quake this week that killed dozens.
