'Mortal Kombat X' update: Developers to release details after launch of 'Injustice' sequel

The latest installment of the "Mortal Kombat" franchise was released in 2015 and since then, the development team has added several features to the game. There have been two Kombat Packs which introduced four new characters to the game. A third Kombat Pack is reportedly in the works; however, the developers have yet to confirm the speculations.
Co-creator Ed Boon recently posted a meme on his Twitter account, teasing the existence of a third Kombat Pack. The meme implied that the development team is brainstorming on ideas for a new title for the third pack.
Sources said that the third pack is currently in development but its release has been delayed because NetherRealm Studios is busy focusing on other projects. The developers are currently working on a sequel for "Injustice," and reports suggested that the details of Kombat Pack 3 will be revealed once the developers release the forthcoming successor of "Injustice."
Previously, Boon also jokingly posted a poll on Twitter. He asked his followers if they have plans to buy an Xbox One S. However, the poll was once again meant to tease the existence of a third Kombat Pack.
The previous packs added a total of eight characters to the game. Rumor has it that the forthcoming one will also introduce four new characters to the title. Although the earlier packs introduced characters who didn't belong to the "Mortal Kombat" franchise, sources said that the upcoming one will feature familiar "Mortal Kombat X" characters such as Rain, Baraka, Noob, Saibot, Fujin, and Sindel.
The recent reports have yet to be confirmed by the studio; hence, fans of the franchise should treat these rumors as speculation until proven otherwise.
While waiting for the latest news about the forthcoming pack, viewers can catch the PC version of Kombat Pack 2 which will be released on Oct 4.
