Mortal Kombat X Release Date, Characters Roster: Details Still Being Fleshed Out As Launch Nears

You can't do better than the Mortal Kombat series if you are looking for a good fight in a game environment. That said, the popular game franchise decided earlier this year to provide a character only if the upcoming sequel Mortal Kombat X is pre-ordered before its release on April 14, 2015.

While many fans welcomed the news of Goro's return in Mortal Kombat X, others were not happy that he would only be included in the roster when the game is pre-ordered. Then there were indications that gamers would have to pay more for his character later.

Goro will be joining returning characters as well as new ones in the upcoming sequel to the 2011 game. Characters that are due to return in Mortal Kombat X are Sub-Zero, Quan Chi, Scorpion, Raiden and Kano. Among the newcomers to the game series are Cassie Cage, Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade daughter.

Another new entrant to the series is D'Vorah the insect woman. She will come in three variations – Venomous, Brood Mother and Swarm Queen. Then there is Kotal Kahn who will be in three forms – Blood God, Sun God and War God.

The last new character in the roster for the game is Ferra/Torr who will appear in three variations – Lackey, Ruthless and Vicious.

The latest news is that the roster will be updated very soon with other new characters. Among them are Liu Kang and Kenshi who are both listed on the IMDB page for the game.

The character who really got the fans excited though was Quan Chi whose arrival was announced in a trailer released last October. In it he was seen taking Kano, who is actually a villain in the game. It was also rumored that Quan Chi would have an army of undead warriors at his command. This did not surprise fans of the game series as Quan Chi has three avatars in the game – Sorcerer, Warlock and Summoner, who has developed her necromancer skills.
