'Mistresses' season 4 spoilers: Joss tries to move on from her horrifying experience; it's all about girl power

Karen (Yunjin Kim) has her eyes set on her hot new nanny, Robert (Jerry O\'Connell). | ABC

"Mistresses" season 4 episode 1 picks up a year after the season 3 finale, where viewers saw Joss (Jes Macallan) being held at gunpoint. It opens up toward the end of a court hearing where Wilson (Jarod Joseph) is being tried for kidnapping Joss and killing Calista's (Jennifer Esposito) husband.

Flashbacks were thrown here and there to show what happened in the year that passed, particularly while Joss was holed up in the house before managing to slip free. However, Entertainment Weekly notes that future episodes could eventually reveal whether there is a much deeper reason behind Joss' refusal to share details about her kidnapping.

Harry's back from his stint for the Food Network in Europe, but TVFanatic observed that something seemed amiss. He did propose to Joss, a proposal that felt rushed. Now, fans are wondering whether something happened while he was away. Did he fool around in Europe while Joss was going through the roughest patch of her life?

The arrival of Harry's sister, Kate (Tabrett Bethell), which the International Business Times says could be expected in episode 2, would not help the Joss–Harry situation at all, and would stir up trouble for the couple after she points out an obvious flaw in their relationship. After all, Joss just happens to be Harry's ex-sister-in-law. Even Joss' friends Karen (Yunjin Kim) and April (Rochelle Aytes) would react oddly to her news.

Meanwhile, April will have a shot at applying for a painting fellowship while Karen, who is now a single mom, would acquire the label "sexpert" after publishing a book detailing her sordid and scandalous love affairs. She might also figure in a new romance with her baby's nanny, Robert (Jerry O'Connell).

Tia Mowry-Hardrict guested as Karen's new agent, Barbara Rutledge, a role which could be recurring.

"Mistresses" season 4 airs Mondays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
