Microsoft Surface Pro 5, Surface Book 2 release date, specs update: Both likely to come out in 2017?
The upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and Microsoft Surface Book 2 have been one of the most talked about releases for quite some time now. Previous reports suggested that the two devices will arrive in 2016; however, several reports have emerged saying that launching of the two laptops will be delayed until 2017.

According to the latest reports, Microsoft has several reasons not to hurry the development of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and Microsoft Surface Book 2. Two significant reasons why the company could not decide on rolling out the two systems this year are the Kaby Lake processor and the latest Windows 10 Redstone 2 operating system. Apparently, the American software giant has yet to finalize the full version of the highly anticipated OS. There are speculations saying that the next generation Intel process, the Kaby Lake, will not be completed until early next year.
In another report, there are rumors circulating that Microsoft might release an AIO PC before releasing the two upcoming laptops. However, the company has yet to provide an official statement regarding these rumors.
Meanwhile, despite the continued silence from the company with regard to the development of the two laptops, fans and critics have already shared their predictions on the specs and features to be included.
Microsoft Surface Book 2 is expected to run on a Kaby Lake processor from Intel, which will be paired with 16 GB of RAM. It will also carry a 500 GB internal storage capacity and the system will be capable of playing videos at 4K resolution. Nonetheless, these details are merely just rumors and speculations, which should be taken with a grain of salt.
On the other hand, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is also expected to run on the same Kaby Lake processor. However, reports about its specs and features have been scarce as of the moment but many fans believe that details will come out anytime soon.
