Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date, specs rumors: gadget powered by Intel Skylake

Microsoft Corporation launched on October last year the fourth-generation of the 2-in-1 detachable Surface series, Microsoft Surface Pro 4. Since Surface Pro 4 only took almost one year to be released after Surface Pro 3's launching on June 2014, rumors have been circulating on the internet that the latest generation of Microsoft's Surface gadget is coming very soon. There are also speculations on features that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will exhibit once it is finally released. These features must be for the better since Surface Pro 4 is proven to be a success, being well received by tech critics and consumers.

One of the early and sound speculations, as reported by Tech Radar, regarding the next generation Surface Pro 5 is that the tablet/laptop hybrid is going to be powered by Intel Skylake processor. Also, upon the release of Surface Pro 5, the gadget is expected to be pre-equipped with the latest Windows 10 operating system Redstone 2.

Though Surface Pro 4 is considered to be a satisfying improvement from the generation it succeeded, some reviewers noted major negatives associated with the Surface Pro 4. One of those is the gadget's poor battery performance that is reported to last only for five to six hours. In order for Surface Pro 5 to top its predecessor, it is expected to sport improved battery life that it can hold for around seven to eight hours, just like the usual battery performance of laptops.

The Surface Pen packaged with the Surface Pro is expected to be remodeled to match the additional improvements being done to Surface Pro 5. It is speculated that the Surface Pen will be packaged with the power on and off button and a power pot. LED light will also be added to indicate notifications.

The design of Surface Pro 4 includes a 12.3-inch display that offers a 2736 x 1824 px resolution. As an improvement, the Surface Pro 5 is expected to be packaged with a larger screen of up to 13.3 inches to match the display features of Macintosh's Apple iPad Pro with a screen display measuring 12.9 inches. The 13.3-inch measurement of Surface Pro 5 is intended to support the 4K resolution that the gadget is expected to offer.

Regarding the speculations on the Surface Pro 5's official release date, the rumors as of the meantime go by an October launching this year, although Microsoft could not give any information on the supposed next generation of their Surface Pro hybrids, as Surface Pro 4 was only released less than a year ago. The first Surface Pro 5 model is rumored to have a unit retail price of $899.
