Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date, specs news: June to Oct. 2016 launch expected

It's not been too long ago since Microsoft launched the Surface Pro 4, but there has also been a routine that a new and improved design will be released a year after. For the upcoming Surface Pro 5, there is still no official announcement from Microsoft regarding the release date. However, initial rumors point to June to October 2016 launching according to Release Date Portal. The first Surface Pro 5 model is rumored to have a unit retail price of $899.

One of the early and sound specs rumors, as reported by Tech Radar, regarding the next generation Surface Pro 5 is that the tablet/laptop hybrid is going to be powered by Intel Skylake processor. Also, upon the release of Surface Pro 5, the gadget is expected to be pre-equipped with the latest Windows 10 operating system Redstone 2.

Though Surface Pro 4 is considered to be a satisfying improvement from the generation it succeeded, some reviewers noted major negatives associated with the hybrid device. One of those is the gadget's poor battery performance that is reported to last for only five to six hours. In order for Surface Pro 5 to top its predecessor, it is expected to sport improved battery life that can hold for around seven to eight hours.

The Surface Pen packaged with the Surface Pro is expected to be remodeled to match the additional improvements being done to Surface Pro 5. It is speculated that the Surface Pen will be packaged with Power on and off button and a power pot. LED light will also be added to signal notifications.

The design of Surface Pro 4 includes a 12.3-inch display that offers  2736 x 1824-pixel resolution. As an improvement, Surface Pro 5 is expected to have a larger screen of up to 13.3 inches to match the display features of Macintosh's Apple iPad Pro that has a screen display measuring 12.9 inches. The 13.3-inch measurement of Surface Pro 5 is intended to support the 4K resolution that the gadget is expected to offer.
