Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date, rumors, updates: New tablet to be launched at Microsoft's Oct. 26 event?

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is one of the most hotly-anticipated devices to be launched, and recent reports claim the upcoming device will have state of the art features that could trump its laptop and tablet rivals.
Release news
According to PC Advisor, Microsoft recently announced an upcoming Windows 10 event. It will take place in New York on Oct. 26, leading to speculations that the tech giant will finally unveil its new flagship tablet in the said conference. However, the Surface Pro 5 could still be launched sometime this year since it appears that Microsoft has more than one new Surface device in store for consumers. During a recent visit, a developer released a photo of a wall in Microsoft's building 88 showcasing placeholders for what seems to be a Surface unit with "2016" and 'coming soon' written across it. Three devices can also be seen with a "2017" on them.
Under the Hood
The Pro 4 already uses the latest sixth-generation Skylake processors from Intel. If Microsoft decides to up their processor game, they would have to wait until the release of.Skylake's successor, Kaby Lake, which will only be available by the end of 2016. This could mean that the Surface Pro 5's arrival could be bumped to early 2017 instead. Other notable new features for the upcoming tablet include a USB C port and a rechargeable Surface Pen and dock. The touchscreen stylus is believed to be following the iPad Pro's Apple Pen, which is also rechargeable through its Lightning connection.
Price
The Surface Pro 4 is straight up expensive with its entry-level variant priced at $899. Reports say that the Surface Pro 5's Core will also start at $899, the Intel Core i7 variant will be $999, and the i7 Extreme version will be available for $1,599.
