A lot of tech enthusiasts are waiting for Microsoft to unveil a new hybrid laptop and tablet design, following the successful release of the Surface Pro 4 last year. If the reports are to be believed, it is expected that the Surface Pro 5 is well on its way to electronic stores. An indication which suggests that Microsoft might be setting the stage for the arrival of Surface Pro 5 is the reported price cuts for the older Surface Pro models.

The rumors of Microsoft's latest 2-in-1 laptop's impending release have begun circulating all over the internet once again since the older Surface Pro designs, the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and Surface Pro 4, are getting huge discounts lately. According to Game N Guide, the price cut-off for Surface Pro 3 and 4 might be a sign that Microsoft is trying to clear its shelf of its older models, just in time for the arrival of the newer Surface Pro 5 models. As an example, Amazon is now offering huge discounts for all of the Surface Pro 4 variants. The discount for a single Surface Pro 4 can go as high as $200. Game N Guide also noted that the amount of discount may be related to how expensive the Surface Pro 4 variant is.

The same report also shows a variant of Surface Pro 4 with 512 GB storage, Intel Core i7 processor and 16 GB RAM is currently only sale for a price of $2,000, down from its standard retail price of $2,199. On the other hand, Surface Pro 3 is presently being offered by eBay to the buyers with discount of up to $220.

As for the rumored specs, the Surface Pro 5 is expected to have a 4K screen display, according to the Bitbag. The 2736x1824 screen resolution of Surface Pro 4 is expected to be outclassed by Surface Pro. Intel's latest generation processor will power up the said device.

The clamoring for Surface Pro 5 is not surprising, given the huge success of the Surface Pro 4 when it was first released last year. Not only that it garnered satisfying reviews from tech analysts and critics, it was also a proven commercial success, having sold a lot of units all over the world. It will be a challenge for Microsoft to step up their game with the Surface Pro 5, as Surface Pro 4 had already raised the bar of expectations.
