Microsoft Surface Phones news: Continuum feature still a key piece for the smart device

With the year just a month away from turning, Microsoft tech geeks are already looking forward to what 2017 will be bringing in terms of gadgets, more particularly with the very mysterious Surface Phones.

In the past several years, rumors that the Redmond-based company is cooking something special that will hopefully have them join the smartphone game have been swirling around. Fans know that device is indeed on the back burner of Microsoft given that they have talked about it a couple of times although very vaguely. Unfortunately, there seems to be no serious development in the project as official details or even just a hint that it will be seeing the light of day are scarce.

That being said, the speculations regarding the Surface Phones, whether made by professional analysts or consumer fans, just keep on coming. A tip from Digital Trends, which they claim to be a leak of the specs of the aforementioned smartphone, notes that it will at least be sporting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and a 64-bit version of the Windows 10 Mobile. The software makes sense if Microsoft is still looking to fully flesh out the Continuum feature that could potentially be their selling gem in terms of smartphones. Should they be able to successfully incorporate the capability in the Surface Phones, it will have the ability to act as a mini processor that can be plugged into a monitor and keyboard for a desktop experience. On top of that, multiple customization options will also be available with random-access memories (RAMs) varying between 4GB and 6GB.

As for the release date for the said smartphone, other Surface devices such as the Book and Pro are said to be getting their respective refreshed versions by Spring of next year. And it could be possible that Microsoft will decide to debut the yet-to-be-launched device at the same time as well. This also coincides with past rumors of an eventual April 2017 rollout for the Surface Phones, which only solidifies the theory.
