There have been a lot of rumors and speculations surrounding the development of the upcoming Microsoft Surface Phone. According to reports, the device will soon come out packed with great features and superior specs. However, the software tech giant has yet to provide official details with regard to its release.

According to Windows Central, the handset will be released in 2017, which contradicts the previous report that the device will arrive anytime this year. According to the publication, Microsoft is still waiting for the final version of the latest Windows operating system, the Redstone 2. According to reports, the much-anticipated software will not be rolled out until next year.

There are speculations going around online that the new Microsoft Surface Phone will arrive in three variants. According to tech insiders, the company wants to make sure they cater to all the markets in the industry.

Meanwhile, although the company has continued to stay mum about its development, many people have already predicted the device's specs under the hood. According to the report, the device will run on a 14nm Kaby Lake processor from Intel, along with 4 GB of RAM. There are also reports suggesting that it will have 64 GB of onboard storage capacity.

The second variant of the Microsoft Surface Phone is said to be running with the same Intel processor; however, it will be sporting 6 GB of RAM, which is a rarity in today's tight smartphone competition. There are also reports saying that it will get a 128 GB of internal storage capacity.

The top of the line variant is said to be running on a Snapdragon 830 chipset from Qualcomm. What's interesting about this variant is its rumored 8 GB of RAM. If rumors prove to be true, this will be the first smartphone to ever carry such memory.

There are also rumors saying that the device will get a 21-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter.
