Michael Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm and his family have been on the receiving end of much criticism in the last two years due to their refusal to publicly speak about the health condition of the seven-time Formula One world champion.

It has been almost three years since Schumacher hit his head on a rock while skiing in the French Alps.

"We all know that I cannot comment," Kehm said last month during the launch of an F1 driver's charity football match, as quoted by Fox Sports. Kehm is currently managing the racing career of Mick Schumacher, Michael's 17-year-old son.

"We just have to accept that the family wants to continue to protect their privacy," she said. "Of course, Michael will not disappear but at the moment the private situation is so difficult that unfortunately no insight can be given. There must be understanding for this."

"We have to accept it and learn to deal with it," she said in Germany while accepting a lifetime achievement award for the most successful driver in F1 history.

"We will continue to hope and do everything so that it will be different again," she added, as quoted by Express.

According to the outlet, former Ferrari chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo recently shared an update on Schumacher's current health condition. The Ferrari boss said that Schumacher is being taken care of by a full-time rehabilitation staff and is receiving specialist treatment at his home in Lake Geneva.

The F1 legend's condition has been kept secret since he awoke from a coma in 2014. He was placed in a medically induced coma after suffering traumatic brain injuries in a skiing accident in December 2013.

Schumacher's family has rarely updated fans about his condition since he was discharged from hospital more than two years ago.

According to the Daily Star, Schumacher's wife Corinna sold his holiday pad and private jet in May after finally accepting that he will "never fully recover to enjoy them again."
