'Metal Gear Solid 5' news updates: Mission 51 won't be in 'The Definitive Experience,' Konami confirms
In a series of tweets earlier this week, Konami, the video game publisher of the "Metal Gear Solid" video game franchise, confirmed that the alleged "true ending" of "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" won't be in the upcoming "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Definitive Experience."
"The Definitive Experience," which combines all of the final "Meal Gear Solid 5" stories in one package, was recently announced. But after Konami enumerated the combo pack's contents, the publisher's Twitter account was flooded with questions from "Metal Gear Solid" fans wanting to know why Mission 51, the so-called ending of "The Phantom Pain," was not included in "The Definitive Experience." Given that the word "definitive" is in the title, fans wondered if the fabled content would be included, and many took to Twitter, asking Konami to clarify the issue.

When a Twitter follower pointed out that "The Definitive Experience" couldn't be definitive if the ending is still missing, Konami replied that the "Metal Gear Solid 5" story already has an ending. According to the publisher, Mission 51 doesn't cap off the game's story because it was scrapped before it was finished.
"Mission 51 is additional story content that was cancelled before development finished, but its definitely not the ending," Konami tweeted.
When other followers pressed about the missing ending, Konami answered: "The ending is found in the missions within. Many threads continue in 'Metal Gear' and subsequent games."
To find those threads and finish those missions, players will just have to keep playing the game. The upcoming "The Definitive Experience," which combines "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" and "Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes" as well as the DLCs for both, will give them another opportunity to do so. "The Definitive Experience" also contains "Metal Gear Online." All of these come in one disc and will be made available in the U.S. on Oct. 11 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
"The Definitive Experience" will retail at $49.99.
