Memphis Grizzlies injury news: Grizzlies get update on their big stars

The Memphis Grizzlies are looking to bounce back for a strong 2016-17 season. Last year, they finished seventh in the Western Conference with a 42-40 record and are now hoping to break the top half of the West in the coming campaign.
They were given boosts after a report revealed that a number of players were ready to make a return to the hardwood. One of the biggest names the Grizzlies are anticipating is Marc Gasol.
Recovering from a Type II fracture of the navicular bone in his right foot, Gasol missed a significant time on the floor as he underwent surgery.
Only playing 52 games, Gasol averaged 16.6 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. He was sorely missed by the team but he is now cleared to resume full court activities just in time.
A lot of pressure will be on Gasol as he is now 31 years old and his window for winning a championship is quickly closing.
"I feel really good, lots of energy," Gasol revealed to NBA reporters. "Obviously I miss the game a lot. I want to play. I want to compete, and the one thing on my mind is to win, and try to lead this group of guys to the championship," he added.
Meanwhile, Mike Conley is also raring to go for the coming season after successfully recovering from Achilles tendonitis in his left foot. A lot is expected of Conley in the coming campaign as he recently signed a five-year $153-million deal that should see him earn $26.5 million in the coming season.
Conley played 56 games last year and averaged 15.3 points and 6.1 assists per game. He will be the undoubted floor general for the Grizzlies and the team's performances will greatly depend on how he plays.
Finally, Chandler Parsons is still going through his rehab after suffering a medial meniscus tear in his right knee. He underwent surgery to fix the problem and still sees very limited gameplay as the season nears.
Parsons was brought in to help the team as he averages 14.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in his NBA career.
