"Ghostbusters" star Melissa McCarthy is not the typical Hollywood actress. She is not svelte like most of the big names in Hollywood, but she is just as talented as the rest of them. The actress isn't aiming to become a skinny figure, but she does intend to lead a healthy lifestyle. Her recent switch to a healthier lifestyle has lead to a significant weight loss of 75 pounds.

McCarthy has been living a healthier lifestyle. Even though her main purpose was not to lose weight, her now healthy lifestyle has allowed her to shed a few pounds.

Foods 4 Better Health previously reported that the second highest paid actress in Hollywood lost weight because of her diet. Her low-carb and high-protein diet boosted her metabolism. The publication pointed out that the actress dropped from a size 28 to a size 14. McCarthy reportedly lost over 75 pounds.

McCarthy told the news outlet that getting a good night's sleep also contributed to the weight loss. She jokingly said that sleeping early decreases the likelihood of getting up for a midnight snack. However, Journal Obesity revealed in 2012 that sleep quality and quantity contributed to weight loss in obese adult women.

Furthermore, the actress reportedly starts the day with four scrambled egg whites and grilled chicken, paired with veggies, apple, chia seeds, and a kale smoothie. McCarthy would snack on wild cod and steamed broccoli at 11 a.m. She will then have usually grilled chicken breast with a blend of quinoa, carrots celery, and red peppers for lunch. Meanwhile, her dinner will be a light meal consisting of steamed vegetables, grass-fed beef with half of an avocado.

Aside from her diet, the actress does intensive workout, such as spending 10 minutes on the rowing machine and 30 minutes doing martial arts.

According to Variety, the actress is currently co-producing a TV show on FOX. Furthermore, the actress is also working on the Netflix revival of "Gilmore Girls."
