Five people died, including the gunman, and two children were severely injured in a shooting spree in Douglasville, Georgia, on Saturday.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, gunman Cedric Prather, 33, shot and killed his ex-wife, Latoya Andrews, 33; and her boyfriend Joseph Terry Brown, 33, and a seven-year-old child at Andrews' home in 3640 Willow Tree Circle in Amber Forest Subdivision.

Prather shot himself and later died at a metro Atlanta area hospital. An injured nine-year-old child died in a hospital.

The gunman chased his daughter, and shot and killed her, said coroner Randy Daniel, according to Reuters. "It was his own little girl. It's terrible," Daniel told Reuters in a phone interview.

According to Lt. Glenn Daniel of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, the shooting incident happened at around 3 p.m.

The police got a call from 911 that shots were fired at Andrews' home. When they arrived, the police found bodies and the injured.

Daniel said an injured nine-year-old child died in a hospital while two children – one 15 and an eight-year-old – who were shot are in critical but stable condition.

Teresa Carter, a neighbor of Andrews, said she heard gunshots. "I was sitting in my living room and heard the pow," she told Reuters. "Then I heard the little girl screaming, and then four more shots. It was the worst thing I ever heard in my life."

Carter said she saw the girl was shot in the mouth. She described her neighbors as a perfect family.

Another neighbor, Andrews Ansah, told 11 Alive that, "Inside the home, I could see the wife was on the floor and a man was still moving."

Ansah said the seven and eight years old would play with his children. "We just had the little girl and boy over yesterday. My son and daughter are their same ages," he said.

Teddy bears and dolls were placed in front of Andrews' home. "We're still piecing it all together," said Lt. Daniel.
